At GreenIT we find more and more proof that the two concepts "IT" and "Environment" belong together. Information technology is useful in many ways, from the management of big factories to sending e-mails.

When more and more information is digitalized new opportunities are created to coordinate and render more effective the flow of information, something that is often beneficial for the environment.

»Different kinds of IT applications may contribute to the following environmental improvements:

• Less Transports are needed, which lead to less use of fuel and less emissions. IT applications with this potential are e-mail, fax, phones, video conferencing, telework and various traffic information systems.

• Natural resources are used more efficiently, so called Dematerialization. All kind of information transmission with electrones instead of atoms has this potential, e.g. e-mail, e-trade with digital music and films and the digital answering machine that replaces the answering machine box at home.
